The model CSR program

In one of my recent Ethics in Public Relations classes, Paul Capelli, current member of the Arthur W. Page Society and the VP of Public Relations for Staples Inc. spoke about Staples' newest CSR (Corporate Social Responsiblity) intiatives. Staples Soul is a new innovative mission on Staples behalf. As a direct quote from their mission statement:
"What's Staples Soul?"
"Staples Soul reflects our commitment to corporate responsibility. It's a holistic approach to business that recognizes the close connection between our financial success and our desire to make a positive impact on our associates, communities, and the planet by joining together the following areas: diversity, the environment, our community, and ethics. It's how we do business—that's Staples Soul."

By applying CSR in these four areas, Staples makes it a point to involve itself with the community in many different and essential ways. I think more corporations should think about Staples CSR initiatives and apply it to help the community and the environment.
